How are you tracking changes in maintenance, issuances, inventory locations over time? With Armory System, you don't have to think about it. It's all kept in your history: RESET TO INVENTORY ISSUE ASSET RETURN ASSET CHANGE LOCATION MAINTENANCE REPORT LOST RECOVERED DESTROY John Smith added R2-D2 to Armory System. 3/26/2026, 12:13:54 PM Asset tracking designed for law enforcement When you want to start organizing your agency's inventory, there are generally three ways of going about it: Armory System Spreadsheets Generic Asset Tracking Spreadsheets Many organizations find that tracking data in spreadsheets suits their needs. However, problems can occur when information silos appear. For example, information silos often happen when someone leaves without anyone knowing where the inventory data spreadsheet is. Another common problem with spreadsheets is that they aren't user-friendly when tracking the history of an asset. Due to this, we often find organizations aren't tracking inventory history, which can become a problem if there's ever an audit. Tired of spreadsheets? Explore Armory System for free for 60 days. A quick Google search should yield some decent results. A problem with using generic, out-of-the-box asset tracking solutions is that they must contain a feature set that supports as many users as possible. This user base will include construction, healthcare, and retail users, to name a few. That means the features and integrations they include may have no relevance to what you do. Developing software for too many domains often makes it more challenging to do one thing well. For example, many armorers require weapon inspections and test fires whenever you return a weapon to the armorer. It's hard for a generic system to track that and prevent users from reissuing that weapon. The company's software roadmap is another thing to consider when looking for an asset tracking/inventory management SaaS. Armory System will continue creating features that help serve the law enforcement community well into the future. Ready to get started? Explore Armory System for free for 60 days. That means our feature set is geared strictly toward law enforcement and law enforcement adjacent organizations (such as private security firms, correctional facilities, etc.). As we continue to improve our product, you can be sure that we are focusing on inventory management problems that other law enforcement officers have already experienced. Unlike other inventory management platforms, we won’t be wasting time building features that law enforcement would never use. We foresee a future where law enforcement professionals can access modern, easy-to-use technological solutions. We know that inventory management is just a fraction of what a precinct does, but it’s our goal to help in this limited capacity so that law enforcement personnel can go about their jobs with one less annoyance. We strive to maintain excellence with Armory System, now and in the future. --- Our features Asset tracking Armory System's flagship feature is our asset tracking functionality. We are compatible with barcode/rfid scanner devices as long as they can do keyboard emulation. After you add your assets, our action menu is smart enough to know which actions are possible and disables the other actions. The two main status pucks: Asset Status, and Current Location represent the current state of the asset and its physical location, respectively. When visiting the asset page, these pucks and their respective colors give you a quick high-level view of your asset data. Inventory management The difference between inventory management and asset tracking is that inventory management is concerned with quantities of items instead of an inventory item with a specific serial #.Some of our inventory management features include using your barcode scanner for bulk quantity adjustments, transferring to your offices or employees, and reorder point notifications that notify you when stock is getting low. Bulk actions We designed every asset tracking and inventory management feature in Armory System with bulk transactions in mind. So, for instance, if you have 100 assets to issue to an office, you can filter them based on some criteria, select them, and issue them all in one fell swoop. Compared to many other inventory management applications, this will save hours of data entry time. History tracking Tracking history is an integral part of any asset tracking system. Over the lifecycle of essential assets like guns, law enforcement personnel should be able to see the chain of custody for that particular asset. We track everything from when you add the asset to Armory System to that asset's destruction. Training plugin The training plugin we offer allows your organization to keep track of qualifications and fitness exams. In law enforcement, in particular, there is a relationship between training and inventory management because before officers are issued a weapon, they need to undergo specific training and qualifications. Custom data & theming Armory System is customizable. You can put your organization's logo on the navigation bar. Bring your organization's inventory location and asset category data to help your organization maintain its current workflow. Hydrate your product data with the products your organization uses. --- Why use us for asset tracking? Public law enforcement It's worth asking what the value of asset tracking and inventory management for law enforcement is. Law enforcement agencies spent over $200 billion over the last year1, around $8 billion on equipment.2 Yet, out of all the law enforcement agencies we talk to, over 50% have said they either use spreadsheets, don't track assets at all, or use outdated client-server applications. That means that over the last decade, nearly $40 billion of law enforcement equipment is either not tracked or very loosely tracked. As a civil service, everything, including equipment, should be accounted for as a responsibility to the public. As a public organization, however, there are also benefits for saving time and frustration. The less time you're concerned about your equipment and inventory, the more energy you can put into policing your community or streamlining operations elsewhere. Private security companies For private security companies, the money lost on not tracking equipment is not immaterial. It affects the bottom line of the company tangibly. Unfortunately, we don't have enough data that we can use to estimate how much private security companies lost due to inventory issues. However, we know that retailers in North America lost roughly $50 billion a year due to inventory shrinkage3 (thinking you had more inventory than you do). Of course, this can happen due to theft, but poor inventory management practices can add fuel to the fire. By using a system like Armory System to track your inventory, you can rest easy knowing that you have a system of record that can help identify mistakes earlier. Information silos and spreadsheets As organizations evolve, they go through employee turnover, retirements, and restructuring. When vital organizational data is on decentralized files, there is a risk of creating information silos within the organization. As an employee, if you've been asked more than once about what equipment you have in your possession, you know something about information silos, the pain they create, and the time they waste. By storing data in a centralized environment, you don't have to worry about that since you have direct access to the single source of truth. Generic vs. Domain-Specific Asset Tracking Why use an asset tracking solution that is specific to law enforcement? The quick and simple answer is so that you can access features pertinent to the job. For instance, generic asset tracking solutions typically don't have training functionality or a way to track maintenance records. In addition, they usually don't have any defined asset tracking workflow. Since we designed our system for armorers/quartermasters, we can allow you to set up assets with a “maintenance required” property. When you have that property enabled, and an asset gets returned to the armory, the asset must have a maintenance record completed before it can be reissued or given back to the owner. That's just one of many domain-specific features at the heart of the value added by a system like Armory System.
