However, this site has been designed to minimize the information collected. This Privacy Policy outlines the details of the information collected, how it's collected, and the purposes for which it is used. Brevity reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make changes to this policy, we will notify you by updating the date of this policy and posting a notice of such changes on our website. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting the personal information we collect. Your continued use of Brevity signifies your acceptance of the terms of this Privacy Policy. Information collected When you register, Brevity only collects a valid email address that you control. When you create summaries on Brevity, you do so of your own volition. Brevity does not require you to submit any personal data nor will it process the personal data that might be contained in your content. Brevity does not directly collect payment information. Brevity uses Stripe (www.stripe.com) to process payments. As a result of this integration, the following items of your data will be visible to Brevity through the tools provided by Stripe - your name, your email address, your country, the amount paid to Brevity, and the taxes paid on the transaction. For delivering emails, Brevity uses Firebase (firebase.google.com). Your email address may be stored within their servers. Brevity has access to information regarding the delivery of those emails through Firebase. For processing your text and generating summaries, Brevity uses APIs provided by OpenAI. As a result, this data is transmitted between Brevity and OpenAI during the process of creation. Further information about their privacy policy can be found on the OpenAI website. Brevity sets cookies for authentication purposes as well as to enable essential functionalities of the platform. Brevity sets up a cookie to mark the user’s session ID, a cookie with the session signature to prevent tampering, and a cookie to tell the browser who the current user is. For analytics, Brevity uses Vercel (vercel.com), which does not use cookies and doesn’t collect any personal data. For monitoring usage and maintaining service quality, we record the IP addresses of all visitors to our site. This allows us to limit free users to a maximum of three summaries per day, ensuring fair access for all users. This data is retained for a period of 24 hours. Use of Information The personal information collected will only be used to provide you with the services that you have subscribed to receive from Brevity and to continually enhance your experience on Brevity. We may send you email notifications regarding your service (such as invoices) and marketing emails about our services. You have the ability to opt out of any of this communication at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link located in the footer of our emails. Data Retention, Deletion, and Export All information collected will be retained only for as long as your account remains in existence. The summaries you create are available publicly and are auto-deleted within 7 days of their creation. Data stored on our servers is not encrypted, and is retrievable to the operators of Brevity. Brevity uses Firebase (firebase.google.com) for its databases. If you would like to delete your entire account, please email contact@brevity.sh. Your request will take up to 30 days. If you would like to receive any other data related to your account, please write to contact@brevity.sh requesting the same. Your request will be completed within 30 days of the confirmation of its receipt, provided the data requested does not infringe on the privacy of other users. They outline the rules and restrictions that govern your use of Brevity’s services and products (hereinafter referred to as “Brevity”). By using Brevity in any capacity, you signify your agreement to all these Terms, which will remain effective during your use of Brevity. These Terms encompass everything stated in this document as well as those specified in the Privacy Policy. Content on Brevity You retain ownership of your creations. Any original content you post, upload, share, store, or otherwise provide to Brevity remains yours and is protected by copyright and any other applicable intellectual property laws. However, we expect users to only share content that is respectful and lawful. Any content that is deemed offensive, defamatory, or in violation of intellectual property rights or other laws may be removed by us without prior notice. We retain the right to remove any content from Brevity at any time, for any reason (including, but not limited to, if someone alleges you contributed that content in violation of these Terms), at our sole discretion, and without prior notice. Content Accuracy While we strive to provide accurate and reliable summaries, we do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the summaries generated by Brevity. Users should critically evaluate the information provided and, where necessary, refer to the original sources. Service Availability We aim to provide Brevity's services continuously, but there may be times when the service is unavailable due to technical issues or maintenance. We will strive to minimize the duration and frequency of these periods, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to Brevity. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by such interruptions. Acceptable Use Policy You hold responsibility for all your activities in association with Brevity. Ensure your use of Brevity aligns with the law. If your use of Brevity is barred by applicable laws, then you are not authorized to use Brevity. We cannot and will not be accountable for your unlawful use of Brevity. You also concur that you will not use Brevity in a way that: Is fraudulent or threatening; Endangers the security of your Brevity account or anyone else’s (such as allowing another person to log into Brevity as you, or sharing your account or password with someone); Attempts, in any manner, to obtain the password, account, or other security information of any other user; Violates the security of any computer network, or cracks any passwords or security encryption codes; Decompiles, reverse engineers, or otherwise attempts to obtain the source code or underlying ideas or information of or relating to Brevity. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, under no circumstances and under no legal theory shall Brevity, its licensors, or its suppliers be liable to you or to any other person for any indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind, or any amount, in the aggregate, in excess of the greater of (1) $100 or (2) the amounts paid and/or payable by you to us in connection with Brevity. Terminating Your Account Brevity reserves the right to terminate (or suspend access to) your use of Brevity, or your account, for any reason at our discretion. We will attempt to provide prior notice to you before terminating your account, but we might not do so if we deem it impractical, illegal, not in the best interest of someone’s safety or security, or otherwise harmful to the rights or property of Brevity.
