This guide will help you get started with the Stability AI API. Create an Account First, you'll need to create an account with us. You can create one using a username and password, or by using your Google account. Creating your account with Google's social login will grant you 25 free credits! To create an account using your Google account and receive free credits, click on the Login button on the top-right and then choose the following option: Authentication Second, you'll need an API key to make requests to the API. To get one, hop on over to the API Keys page. All APIs documented on this site use the same authentication mechanism: passing the API key in via the Authorization header. 🚨 Your API key needs to be kept secret! If you suspect your key has been leaked, first create a new one on the API Keys page, and then delete the old one. Credits Lastly, you'll need some credits to make requests to the API. Credits are the unit of currency that is consumed when calling the API, and the amount of credits consumed per request will vary across models and modalities. Then create an API key by logging in to your account’s page. You can find more information about how to get started here. Why isn't my API key working? If you are trying to use your API key in an application or custom integration, the API key may seem invalid for a variety of reasons. As a good first troubleshooting step, confirm the validity of your API key by logging into your account.​ Confirm your account has sufficent credits available (by visiting the billing page). Verify your API key is correct: some characters may appear the same (O and 0), so it is recommended to copy and paste the key rather than retyping it. Try creating a new API key. How many requests can I send per second when calling the API? This API is rate-limited to 150 requests every 10 seconds. If you exceed this limit, you will receive a 429 response and be timed out for 60 seconds. If you find this limit too restrictive, please reach out to us via this form.
