Your personal bullshit 🤌 detector for the Internet. Chrome PluginFirefox Plugin Chrome PluginFirefox Plugin We recently won an award on digital rights! Supported by all the main media sites Supported also by media platforms Welcome to the era of informed skepticism 🤨 Let’s face it: the internet is a weird place. One minute you’re reading about world politics, and the next, you’re knee-deep in a debate about the diet of a giraffe. But when it comes to getting your news, the stakes are higher than giraffe trivia. That’s where Skeptic Reader swings in. With a knack for detecting biases and logical fallacies in real-time, this plugin ensures the news you read are as clean as your grandma’s kitchen floor. Detect logical fallacies and bias 🤯 Observable bias detection on the fly Logical fallacy identification for when arguments take a nosedive Counter-argument suggestions for a well-rounded view Automated logical gymnastics (still no physical exercise involved) YouTube video analysis—transcripts decoded for bias, fallacies, and the occasional conspiracy rabbit hole And for the data enthusiasts… 🧮 Content scoring metrics to keep it real: Balance: How evenly are all sides presented? Logic: Spot-on arguments or fallacy galore? Objectivity: Pure facts or sprinkled opinions? Insight-packed summaries backed by AI brilliance to help you navigate the noise. Unravel the yarns🧶 spin the facts and challenge every word. In a world where headlines often scream louder than facts, Skeptic Reader is your calm, collected philosopher with a magnifying glass. Powered by GPT4o, this Chrome and Firefox plugin sifts through the noise to find new questions. It’s like having a personal Socrates in your pocket, minus the awkwardness of fitting an old Greek wise man in your pocket. Made with ❤️ by Domestic Data Streamers Imagine a group in Barcelona who thought mixing data science with journalism and a sprinkle of design would be a good idea. That’s Domestic Data Streamers. This project isn’t our magnum opus; it’s more like that science project we decided to work on one weekend after too much caffeine. It’s experimental, a bit quirky, and definitely not the silver bullet to end all misinformation. Consider this plugin a ‘beta test’ in the wild— an open invitation to join us in the lab. Let’s poke at the problem with a stick to see what moves, and find out if we can invert the use of GEN-AI to help us ask better questions, instead of churning out tonnes of bullshit answers. Samira KhanBook Club Coordinator, PageTurners Frequently asked questions Is my browsing data safe with SkepticReader? Absolutely. SkepticReader processes content on-the-fly without storing personal data. We are using your OpenAI integration to respect user confidentiality, ensuring your browsing habits and data remain private. Is it 100% free? Yes! At least from our side, if you are using GPT4 you are already paying something to the fellas from OpenAI so that’s on them. Can Skeptic Reader identify all types of biases and fallacies? While SkepticReader is highly effective at spotting many biases and fallacies, no tool is perfect. Our work with prompt engineering aims to continuously improve detection capabilities through learning and updates, striving to cover as many scenarios as possible. Does Skeptic Reader work on all websites? SkepticReader works on a wide variety of websites and platforms. However, websites with heavy dynamic content or strict CORS policies might limit their functionality. We’re constantly working to increase compatibility and reach. Can Skeptic Reader analyze YouTube videos too? Yes! Skeptic Reader can now dive into the wild world of YouTube, but also Vimeo, TED Talks, TikTok and much more! It analyzes video transcripts to detect biases and logical fallacies, so you can spend less time yelling at your screen and more time thinking critically. Does it work on all Youtube, Vimeo, TED and TikTok videos? Mostly, yes. We can handle the transcripts of most news related videos. But if the video is pure silence, doesn´t have captions or riddled with meme sound effects, even Skeptic Reader might have to tap out. How does Skeptic Reader score content? Skeptic Reader calculates a percentage-based score for «Content Depth and Balance.» The higher the score, the more thoughtful and balanced the content. A higher percentage means less fluff, fewer biases, and deeper analysis—your shortcut to finding quality information amidst the noise. Will Skeptic Reader turn me into a professional fact-checker? Not exactly, but close. Think of Skeptic Reader as your sassy sidekick—it’ll sharpen your critical thinking skills and arm you with counter-arguments, leaving the heavy lifting (and the glory) to you.
