Our free tier includes all of the features and provides you with 5 Connected Papers graphs for free, every month. This is enough for most of our users. Researchers who require more than 5 graphs per month can upgrade to one of our paid plans. We are very thankful for your support! Why should I upgrade to a premium account? Our Premium users enjoy access to an unlimited amount of Connected Papers graphs every month. In addition, Premium users actively support the ongoing maintenance and development of new features. Thank you! What is the difference between the Academic and Business plans? The Academic plan is meant for users who are part of academic institutions, non-profit organizations or who use Connected Papers for personal use. The Business plan is meant for individuals who use Connected Papers in a commercial context, as part of or in relation to their for-profit work. Both plans offer the same value: removing the restrictions of the free plan and allowing you to create and explore an unlimited amount of Connected Papers graphs every month. How are the group plans different from the personal plans? Group accounts are meant for teams and organizations who want to provide premium access to their members. Group accounts are controlled by administrator accounts who can assign premium access to users based on purchased seats. Administrators don't get premium access by default but can be added as users to the group plan. How do you process the payment? We use the services of PayPro Global to process the paymentThe checkout page is hosted by them for security reasons Your credit card report will show PayPro Global and not Connected Papers. Connected Papers does not store or manage credit card information. I need a Premium plan but truly can not afford it At Connected Papers, our hope and intention is that everyone should have access to tools for research, regardless of their financial situation. For those who do research and truly can not afford a Connected Papers subscription, we offer a scholarship program. Please submit a request to scholarships@connectedpapers.com and we will do our best to set you up with a discounted or free Premium plan. Who is the team behind Connected Papers? We are a group of 4 friends who originally built Connected Papers as a side project on the weekends to solve our own problems with literature search. As Connected Papers quickly grew to hundreds of thousands of users, we worked hard to scale our infrastructure and continually provide a smooth and pleasant experience to our users. FAQ Why should I purchase a group account? By purchasing a group account, your team or organization can access and create an unlimited number of Connected Papers graphs every month. A group account enables easy management of premium access for your members, all through a single invoice. How do Academic and Business plans differ? The Academic plan caters to groups within academic institutions (e.g., labs, departments) and non-profit organizations. The Business plan targets organizations utilizing Connected Papers in a commercial setting or as part of their for-profit work. Both plans grant the same benefits: removing free plan limitations and allowing group members to create and explore an unlimited number of Connected Papers graphs each month. How are the group plans different from the personal plans? Group accounts are designed for teams and organizations wishing to provide premium access to their members. Administrator accounts oversee group accounts, allocating premium access to users according to the number of purchased seats. By default, administrators don't occupy a seat but can be assigned premium access like any other user. How is payment processed? We rely on PayPro Global to handle payment processing:For security purposes, PayPro Global hosts the checkout page. Your credit card statement will display PayPro Global, not Connected Papers. Connected Papers does not store or manage credit card information. Is there an option to pay with a Purchase Order? Yes, the checkout page provided by PayPro Global offers a Purchase Order option as a payment method. Kindly note that using a Purchase Order incurs an additional manual processing fee. Upon submitting your order on the checkout page, you will receive an email containing the order details and wire transfer instructions. Once the wire transfer is completed, PayPro Global will link the payment to your order, and we will add the purchased seats to your group account. Can I add seats in the middle of a subscription cycle? Yes, you can add seats at any time during your subscription cycle, which could be a quarter, or year. Adding seats in the middle of a subscription cycle costs a prorated sum, which means you only pay for the number of days remaining until the end of the cycle. For example, if you purchase a yearly subscription and want to add a seat after 100 days, you will be charged for the remaining 265 days of the subscription cycle. In this case, you will pay 265/365 of the yearly cost of a seat. If you pay with a credit card or PayPal, the added seats will be activated immediately. The prorated sums for all seats added during the same month will be combined into a single charge, billed at the end of the month. For other payment methods, you will need to pay the prorated sum via a dedicated checkout page before the seats are activated. What happens if I cancel my subscription? Upon canceling your subscription, we will stop the automatic charging at the end of the subscription cycle. The paid seats will remain active until the conclusion of the current billing cycle. Once the billing cycle ends, all group members will revert to the free plan. If you wish to renew your subscription after cancellation, you can do so on your Subscription and Billing page. What happens if I have unused seats? Seats are purchased for the entire billing cycle and are non-refundable. If you have unused seats at the end of the billing cycle, we will not charge you for them in the next cycle. Your subscription will be automatically updated to match the number of used seats for the next billing cycle. Keep in mind that you can assign unused seats to new users at any time during the current billing cycle. Who is the team behind Connected Papers? Our users love Connected Papers See 71 more TermsPrivacyCookies policy --- Share Follow About Pricing Log in Connected Papers is a unique, visual tool to help researchers and applied scientists find and explore papers relevant to their field of work. How does it work?To create each graph, we analyze an order of ~50,000 papers and select the few dozen with the strongest connections to the origin paper. In the graph, papers are arranged according to their similarity. That means that even papers that do not directly cite each other can be strongly connected and very closely positioned. Connected Papers is not a citation tree. Our similarity metric is based on the concepts of Co-citation and Bibliographic Coupling. According to this measure, two papers that have highly overlapping citations and references are presumed to have a higher chance of treating a related subject matter. Our algorithm then builds a Force Directed Graph to distribute the papers in a way that visually clusters similar papers together and pushes less similar papers away from each other. Upon node selection we highlight the shortest path from each node to the origin paper in similarity space. Our database is connected to the Semantic Scholar Paper Corpus (licensed under ODC-BY). Their team has done an amazing job of compiling hundreds of millions of published papers across many scientific fields. Our story Connected Papers started as a weekend side project between friends. We've been working with academic papers for years and felt a great need for better tools for science and research. When we saw how much this tool improved our own literature search workflows - and got increasingly more requests from friends and colleagues to use it - we committed to release it to the public. The relevant period starts on the date we accept your offer for a subscription. Premium subscriptions are renewed automatically. You may cancel the automatic renewal of your premium subscription at any time on the account or subscription settings page. No returns and no refunds will be made with the sole exception of double coverage. In case a user has purchased an individual premium subscription and then received premium access from a group subscription or institution, they will be eligible for a refund for the overlapping duration. Processing fees of 10% of the initial order will be deducted from the refund sum. Group account administrators can add seats to a subscription at any time. The cost of adding a seat is prorated for the number of days until the end of the current billing cycle. For payment methods that allow delayed charging (credit card and PayPal), the added seats will be activated immediately and the sum charge for all seats added that month will be charged at the end of the month. For other payment methods, it is necessary to manually purchase additional seats through a dedicated checkout link available on the administration page. Seats added under a group subscription are pre-paid for the billing cycle duration and are not refundable. If a group account has vacant seats at the end of the billing cycle, we will not charge for them in the next cycle. In this case, the subscription will be automatically updated to the number of used seats. Group account administrators can assign additional administrators to the account. These additional administrators will have the same rights as the original administrator and they are considered representative of the subscription account owner. Any purchases made by an administrator are binding and will be charged to the group subscription account. All sales and charges are processed by PayPro Global at their website, including hosting of the checkout page. You agree that PayPro Global on behalf of Connected Papers may process your credit card or PayPal account (or any other payment method you provide) on each billing cycle.
